Craftsy Saturday

Hi there! It's raining now and the weather is perfect to stay indoors with a delicious cup of hot chocolate. (: I'm blogging from the blogger app for the first time just to try it out. So I've been googling for pretty floral backgrounds and wallpapers for crafting and I came across these really gorgeous ones! Let me show you..

This floral one is my current iPad background!

I really like the circus theme too as it exudes a fun and jovial vibe!

I'll be using the strawberries one to make an iPad screen protector for Lydia as a Christmas gift! Ideas, ideas.. (:

Florals aside, I also googled for bunny backgrounds. After bunbun was given away, I try to keep snippets of him everywhere in remembrance of the precious moments we once shared. Maybe I'll write about him one day.. It took me a long time to find closure though. Now and then I still find myself missing him a lot.. So we shall see. (: Back to the backgrounds, I love the vintage feel so I'm naturally a big fan of Peter Rabbit! We don't see much of P.R. nowadays so it's quite hard to find good wallpapers. I love love love the new wallpapers. They can be found on google either by searching under "Cath Kidston backgrounds" or "Peter Rabbit backgrounds". A tip on searching for clear pictures would be to customize the images found to large. Easy peasy (: I hope you like them as much as I do! Hopping off to craft some nice stuff now, tata!

Hello Bangkok! \(o^ v ^o)/

Wow, so it's been more than a year this post has been sitting in my drafts and I didn't bother to post it cos..
I FORGOT hahaha so typical of me right! And I only got reminded because I am currently planning my yearly pilgrimage for 2013 (this year)! Anyway, this was last year's BKK details and it seemed just yesterday as I read through it. Ahhh memories. (:

Backtrack a little as I finally post my BKK pics!! :D It makes me so happy whenever I get to travel to Bangkok, I LOVEEEEEE the country! Their culture, language and people are so fascinating. You can really shop-till-you-drop there with the reasonably priced clothes, shoes and accessories plus indulge in the local delights and end the day relaxing in a spa with an authentic Thai massage! It's every girl's heaven! So I decided to do away with the big party idea and celebrate my 21st birthday in BKK instead, with none other than my mom. She's my best travelling companion!

Off we go!

Hi Momsy! (: Thank you for sponsoring this trip and taking time off to accompany me to BKK! It's the best birthday gift one can ever receive (:

Got a window seat! Loveeee window seats cos they make me feel secure and safe! And the view is a bonus.  (:

Deeply smitten by the floral x pastel craze this season <3

Taken with Camera360 haha forgot what we were laughing so hard at, happy times! (:

Her Highness resting while I'm so excited making to-do lists I didn't catch a wink at all.

And a few hours later, hi Bangkok!!!!! SAWADEEKAAA!!!

It has been years since Mom travelled there, she was blown away by how systematic and clean the BKK airport looks now. We were out of the airport in no time and on our way to the hotel for check-in.

I chose Centrepoint again as I had a really good experience staying here the previous time and it's very near the shopping malls so we can walk there easily. It's actually a service apartment hotel which explains the kitchenette fully equipped with fridge, microwave oven, cutlery, plates, pots and pans for cooking. There's also a sink area to wash and dry dishes.

The bathroom is bigger than most hotels!! It has a bathtub which can comfortably fit Mom and I in it! We had a bubble bath that night and enjoyed ourselves tremendously (: We'll forever be girls at hearts no matter how old.

Our huge bed and mini living room that we used to put our stuff.

Dressing table and TV! Find the lights in the dressing table kinda dim so I did my make up in the toilet instead, but it's a good place to put important stuff that I tend to forget, like tickets for breakfast etc.

I'd recommend anyone going to BKK to stay in this hotel! The receptionists, hotel staff and security guards are soooo friendly and helpful. They never fail to greet you with a sincere smile whether you are going out or coming back. And every single time, they would offer to help us with our bags! I remember the first time I stayed there, we barely knew our way around and they kindly helped us flag a cab or gave us precise directions to where we were headed for as well as warn us of shoplifters. It's these little things they do that touched our hearts. It makes me feel right at home and gives me the fuzzy feeling the hotel staff really care for us from their hearts! Yay to a comfortable stay for 5 days 4 nights!

After checking-in, the first thing we did was to find food to feed our tumtums! Decided on jap food in platinum mall so we walked there (:

Passed by this new mall that I don't remember seeing when I was in BKK the last time. But there was nothing much in there, the real shopping started along the streets! Roadside stalls are my best friends haha.

Mummy deciding on which pair to buy, in which I replied both! They are all going for 100 baht each, which is roughly SGD$4! How to leave without buying a few pairs!

On the overhead bridge towards platinum mall. This is by far my favourite mall, it has a large variety of clothes, accessories and everything a girl needs at wholesale prices!

It was Mom's first time here, so I planned most of the itinerary (:

Finally arrived at Fuji Japanese Restaurant! It's located at the top level of Platinum mall, near the food court. They offer decent Japanese food at reasonable prices and it's one of my must-go places whenever I'm in BKK (: The displays outside the shop looks so real and tempting!

They have a pretty extensive range of food, from ala carte sushi to bento sets.

Mom happily browsing, we were really hungry! The moment we set eyes on the menu it's as though we found gold haha.

I love crabmeat sushi! But the crabmeat sushi here is not memorable at all, shall not order this again.

SALMON BELLY!! Mom and I love our fish, especially salmon. The salmon is fresh and the lime leaves a tangy aftertaste, rating it above average. We ordered this twice!

Like a happy kid with food haha.

Matcha milkshake with jelly bits and whipped cream. This drink was recommended by the waitress, so we thought why not. Slowly loving the variations of green tea. This drink is heavenly!!! We ordered another one too!

Fried seafood noodles. It looks average right? But the sauce they use is so special! We liked it immediately but refrained from ordering another serving so we can try more things <3 I'll definitely order this again the next time I'm there.

Soft shell crab sushi and california maki!

Garlic prawns!! The prawns are huge! This is also one of the dishes we enjoyed very much (:

Momsy eating happily haha :D It makes me happy to see her enjoying herself.
After the wonderful meal we walked over to Central Mall, one of the biggest malls in the world.

Along the way we passed by this river, Mom said that it used to be called black river decades ago. Interesting to see boats as a form of transportation in Thailand.

We also passed by many roadside eateries selling seafood. They have mussels, clams, fish, chicken, prawns, you name it, they've got it! Guess it's popular among both locals and tourists as there were quite a number indulging in their food right beside the road.

Suggested to the intrigued Mom to "eat like a local" but she found the smell offensive albeit being highly curious of the way they barbecued the fish.

Headless fishes Momsy labelled as the pitiful ones of the lot hahaha.

Thai prawns are really fat! I'd try one of these stalls anytime, it will be an interesting experience!

On my actual birth date 21 years later! Momsy gave me her vintage LV! <3

So to eat at Platinum's food court, you must purchase this card and top it up with credit..

Tom Yum Goong ^V^

Fish maw soup.. Yums I love my soups.

Chendol..

I think Bangkok has really ice mango sticky rice, anywhere!!!

Some popiah.. The leaves are actually really nice and flavourful!
These two make a nice combination I'd say.

Hehehe

"Ok la I pose for you, cute anot?"

BLACK CANYON COFFEE!!

It's super chill to people-watch in BKK, there's such a wide variety of personalities on the streets you'll never be bored!!

"I wanna sneeze.." After which I poked her and she can't! LOL.

At the hotel lobby! The hotel lobby has two sides, one of which is this outdoor zen lounge.
We just K.O.ed after a day of fruitful shopping!!

Shag face.

Ok this series of tuktuk pictures has a story to tell. WE WERE ROBBED ON THE TUKTUK!!!
Like super mega WTF moment. Mum insisted on taking the tuktuk although I've said they are dangerous and they have nothing to offer other than a thick layer of polluted dusk as free make up on the face, but she insisted on it. So.. We hired one.

So, we were going up slope and a motorcycle just whizzed past my mum's side and the pillion wanted to snatch her bag! :O But LUCKILY he didn't succeed cos she had it looped in her arms. But we were scared silly! It was my first and hopefully last of such encounters! T______________T Right then I wished my brothers were there! Mum agreed never to travel alone with me too. *Pfft* She was the "hazard" lo. Always getting lost etc. then need to find her! Hai. Anyway, lesson learnt: Thailand is NOT a place to flash your designer bags. T__________T Thankfully we were unharmed physically.. Phew.

And the thing I regretted most was that we hailed one from a group of tuktuks. Why? Cos I highly suspect the tuktuk driver is in cahoots with the robbers! He was TOTALLY nonchalant throughout the whole ordeal. And after it happened, he still told us we were lucky they didn't have knives! WTFWTFWTF x 999999999. T______T NEVER TRUST TUKTUKS AGAIN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!

We arrived at Chinatown with shaken balls but STILL had dinner by the roadside lol. #BRAVE
But we were panicky throughout. Like eating with darted eyes looking out for suspicious people O___O
Nonetheless, the food is AWESOMEMO. I'd go back every time I go to BKK. Pinky promise!

Loots, loots, loots, and more loots..

Brekky next morning in the hotel..

29 Plaza is the place to go for cheap mani pedi!! It's linked to MBK via a linkway actually so you can go snack shopping at MBK and have nails done after!

The shop in MBK where I got my full on bling bling and pearl cases. So much cheaper than in SG!

This is the Thai orange juice sold on the streets.. It's everywhere! The taste is distinctively different from the orange juice we are used to, but in a good way! If you are a street food hoarder, this is a MUST GET!! :D

We finally caved in to curiosity to try the "pungent" fish hahaha. The mentality to approach this dish is somewhat that of durians.. Once you start, you can't stop! The fish is crispy on the outside and cooked just right on the inside.

Local fish sauce..

Tom yum!!! Every meal. Hahaha

The very kind cook helped us with these two pics! The Thais are generally very friendly and hospitable towards tourists. (: Lucky to meet the kind uncle! <3

Love you mummy.

I think ending the post like that is kinda abrupt but I'm too lazy to caption lol just let the pics do the talking!! Black Canyon had our hearts so much we had our fill at the airport before returning.

I guess that's about it! What a trip, definitely unforgettable. Bangkok will always excite me - Every time I go back, I feel like I am reunited with an old lover. So excitingly new yet dearly familiar at the same time. I wish our yearly affairs like this continue forever.. Till the next, my lovely city.

And lastly, I wanna dedicate this to my dearest momsy again..
I LOVE YOU MUMMY!!!
Thank you for accompanying me on this trip. It's really one of the bestest gifts ever.
XOXO
